Approved Management Centres (AMCs): Economic players sensitised on membership in Bamenda

MINPMEESA > News > Approved Management Centres (AMCs): Economic players sensitised on membership in Bamenda

From 4 to 5 July 2023, the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts is organising the 8th edition of raising- awareness caravans on Approved Management Centres (AMCs) in the North-West region.

The 8th edition of raising awareness caravans on AMC will inform economic players in the North-West region on the tax benefits of joining Approved Management Centres to develop their activities and speed up the migration process from the informal to the formal sector. In concrete terms, this will involve organising awareness-raising caravans on AMCs in the North-West Region; a region not yet covered by these caravans; promoting and raising awareness on AMCs among the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem; and informing and raising awareness of at least 1,000 SMEs about the tax benefits and other incentives inherent in joining AMCs. The procedures to be completed in order to benefit from these advantages, as well as the tax innovations contained in the Finance Law for the 2023 financial year, will also be discussed.

In view of the particular context, marked by the implementation of numerous tax innovations contained in the Finance Law for the 2023 Financial year, especially the effective entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the 2023 edition appears to be an ideal opportunity to explain and appropriate the said innovations by the economic players in Bamenda. The latter are confronted with specific difficulties linked to the security crisis and the absence of Approved Management Centres in this territorial entity. It will also be an opportunity to continue thinking about how AMCs can operate more effectively, leading to more efficient support for targets as set out in the provisions of the NDS 2030, relating to support for very small businesses in tax matters and access to micro-credit, as well as encouraging the mass migration of entrepreneurs from the informal to the formal sector.

The North-West Regional and Local Authorities (RLAs) and sectoral administrations (MINPMEESA, MINFI (DGI), MINEPAT, MINDEF, MINMIDT, MINCOMMERCE, MINADER, MINEPIA, MINPOSTEL, MINDDEVEL, and MINTOUL) are invited to this major event, organised for the very first time in the North-West region. Also expected to attend are APME, BCPME, CNCC, ANOR, BSTP, Competitiveness Committee, BMN, CCIMA, CAPEF and employers’ associations such as GICAM, SYNDUTRICAM, ECAM, MECAM, as well as public and private incubation and support structures dedicated to SMEs.
