The 11th edition of the SME awareness caravan promoting membership in Approved Management Centres (CGA) came to an end on 2 September 2026 in Douala, following two days of discussions, awareness-raising and support for entrepreneurs.
Held under the theme: “Optimising the support system for entrepreneurs through CGAs: challenges, strategies and prospects,”
the initiative, led by MINPMEESA, seeks to bring entrepreneurs closer to support mechanisms and promote formalisation, good governance, competitiveness and business sustainability.
Key issues addressed included:
Bringing the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem together
Public administrations, SME support organisations, employers’ organisations, financial institutions, chambers, decentralised local authorities, CGAs, professional organisations, incubators and technical and financial partners all contributed to this initiative.
The objective was ambitious: to raise awareness among at least 5,000 stakeholders about tax measures and opportunities that can contribute to job creation and business development.
Taking support directly to entrepreneurs
The caravan also went into the field through a CGA and Entrepreneurs Village, a mobile awareness campaign across Douala, and visits to businesses led by a young entrepreneur and a woman entrepreneur.
Since 2016, MINPMEESA, with technical support from the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) and various partners, has continued to deploy this initiative across Cameroon.
The message from Douala is clear: businesses that want to grow need to be supported, structured and progressively integrated into the formal economy.
CGA’s therefore remain an important instrument for helping very small, small and medium-sized businesses improve their management, meet their tax and administrative obligations and strengthen their competitiveness.
