The Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille BASSILEKIN III, held an audience with Mr Neil SCOTLAND, Senior Forestry Adviser at the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). He was accompanied by Ms Samantha SMITH, Deputy High Commissioner and Chargé d’Affaires, and Mr Euan McCARTHY, Regional Climate and Environment Adviser for Central Africa.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation to promote local timber processing, develop forestry SMEs, modernize production equipment, facilitate technology transfer and mobilize financing tailored to the needs of Cameroonian businesses.
This cooperation drive is reflected in the SMEs Wood’s Park in Lomié, for which MINPMEESA and the Lomié Council signed a partnership agreement on October 6, 2026. The project aims to support SMEs, artisans and social economy organizations while promoting job creation and the production of higher value-added goods.
Through these cooperation prospects, MINPMEESA seeks to make the responsible use of forest resources a driver of economic growth, competitiveness and sustainable development, benefiting businesses and the national economy.
MINPMEESA: empowering more competitive SMEs and promoting value-added local processing.
