From 1 to 11 September 2026, the Divisional Delegation of the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA) for the Ocean Division hosted a training programme on traditional textile dyeing, bringing together 21 dressmakers and tailors.
Initiated by the Divisional Delegate, the training was organised with the support of the National Employment Fund (FNE) in Kribi and the Kribi Agro-Pastoral Vocational Training Centre (CFPAK).
Throughout the training, participants were coached by Christelle MENI, an entrepreneur and professional textile dyer, who shared practical skills and techniques in traditional dyeing.
The programme covered:
– tie-dye and binding techniques;
– basic dyeing techniques;
– batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique;
– sales and marketing techniques;
practical entrepreneurship ideas and business development approaches.
Beyond technical skills, the training provided participants with a better understanding of the economic opportunities offered by handicrafts, helping them turn their creativity and know-how into sustainable income-generating activities.
The training programme concluded with a certificate award ceremony for all 21 participants, presided over by the Head of the FNE Kribi Agency, in the presence of the Divisional Delegate of Employment and Vocational Training and the Director of CFPAK.
Through this initiative, MINPMEESA, particularly its Divisional Delegation for the Ocean Division, continues to strengthen its commitment to skills development, handicraft promotion and support for local entrepreneurship.
In Kribi, handicrafts are being strengthened, modernised and transformed into new opportunities.
