On Wednesday, 8 July 2020, the Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille Bassilekin III presided over the installation ceremony of the new Secretary General Mr Tchana Joseph, appointed by Decree No. 2020/353 of 30 June 2020. The ceremony took place in the Meeting Hall of the Ministerial Building No. 1. It was an opportunity for the Minister to recall the missions of a Secretary General. As the Minister’s main collaborator, he is responsible, among other things, for coordinating the activities of the central administration and devolved services. He shall also ensure the ongoing training of staff and organise, under the authority of the Minister, seminars, refresher and advanced training courses. The Secretary General is also entitled to monitor and evaluate upgrading programmes for SMEs, Social Economy and Handicraft sector actors in liaison with the administrations and bodies concerned.

Addressing Mrs. Marthe Chantal Mbajon Ndjepang, the Minister congratulated her for her expertise, hard work and commitment. He wished her success in this new stage of her rich professional career, marked by thirty-four years in the service of the State, working to design and monitor the implementation of public policies in all areas of action entrusted to her by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya.

To the newly appointed Secretary General, the Minister prescribed to fight, among other things, against inertia and deviant and bad behaviour. He invited him to make judicious use of the various academic and professional profiles of his collaborators for a more dynamic action, both at the central level as well as in the devolved services. Because of his experience of the house, the Secretary General was called upon to keep the course of performance and to continue to work for the promotion and development of small and medium enterprises, social economy and handicrafts.
