The Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille BASSILEKIN III, received in audience on 29 September 2026 in Yaoundé Mr. Jean Luc MASTAKI NAMEGABE, Director of the Sub-Regional Office of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the SME sector, particularly through the SMEs WOOD’S PARK project, which aims to establish three industrial parks dedicated to wood processing in Lomié, Sangmelima and Edéa.
Key areas discussed included:
🔹 integrating SMEs into the wood value chain;
🔹 promoting local content and subcontracting;
🔹 developing innovative financing mechanisms for SMEs;
🔹 leveraging Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to support industrialisation.
The meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthening synergies for greater local processing, stronger SME participation in value chains and job creation.
