On Friday, October 24, 2025, Mr. Achille Bassilekin III, Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, granted a farewell audience to His Excellency Filippo Scammaca Del Murgo, Ambassador of Italy to Cameroon, at the end of his mission.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and Italy in the areas of SMEs, social economy, and handicrafts. The Minister commended the Ambassador for his efforts in strengthening economic exchanges, promoting technology transfer, and fostering partnerships between Cameroonian and Italian enterprises.
Discussions also focused on structuring the social economy sector, drawing inspiration from Italy’s cooperative model, as well as on vocational training in fields such as design, agro-processing, leather, textiles, and ceramics. The strengthening of Cameroonian incubation centers was also identified as a key priority.
The Minister took the opportunity to outline prospects for future cooperation with the incoming Italian Ambassador, emphasizing networking among economic stakeholders, collaboration between chambers of commerce, and mutual participation in economic events.
This meeting highlighted the quality of bilateral relations between Cameroon and Italy and reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to sustaining a dynamic partnership in line with Cameroon’s National Development Strategy.
