The Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA) continues to strengthen its commitment to youth empowerment and the development of local entrepreneurship.
Through its Divisional Delegation for Manyu, the Ministry organised a one-day capacity-building programme on Friday, 4 September 2026, at the Mamfe Town Hall, benefiting a total of 401 young people from across Mamfe Municipality.
Held under the theme “Youth Empowerment for Agro-Food Processing: A Lever for Import Substitution,” the training aimed to equip participants with practical skills that can support their integration into entrepreneurship and the creation of small-scale businesses.
Participants received practical training in agro-food processing, with a particular focus on:
fruit juice production; Overtea production; chocolate making. 
In an area endowed with abundant agricultural resources, including fruits, cocoa, palm oil and other local products, the initiative seeks to encourage young people to transform locally available raw materials, create added value and develop sustainable income-generating activities. Beyond technical skills, participants were encouraged to see entrepreneurship as a pathway towards economic empowerment, job creation and the reduction of unemployment.
The initiative forms part of MINPMEESA’s ongoing efforts to support young people and follows a previous capacity-building programme organised on 6 March 2026 for women and girls.

Larger-scale training programmes will be organised in November 2026 as part of the 8th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week, to be celebrated in Mamfe, Upper Bayang and Eyumojock. These activities will further strengthen skills, showcase innovations and provide young entrepreneurs with information on the support and financing opportunities available through MINPMEESA.
