In 2018, about 13,423 companies were created in the ECPCs, a number which represents a slight increase in relative value of 0.60% compared to 2017. The decreases are observed particularly in the ECPC of Bamenda and Limbe, probably because of the socio-political situation in the North-West and South-West regions. According to the legal form, establishments or individual companies dominate with nearly 78% of creations, followed by private limited companies. The online business creations (7,499) decreased in 2018 compared to 2017 (10,363) by 38.20%, with a preponderance of VSEs (72%). Concerning the handicraft sector, 11, 814 craftspeople were registered in the municipal offices created for this purpose. This represents a decrease compared to 2017 when 14,390 craftspeople were registered.

As regards the economic situation of SMEs, we note that during the first half of 2018, the economic activity was marked by a favorable business environment for VSEs promoters. The actors in the field of SE have also seen an improvement in their activities in the first half of 2018 compared to the same semester for the year 2017 with a growth in their activities which results in an increase of all the indicators, exception made of that relating to changes in the cash position as it remained tense. In the same dynamic as the VSEs and the SEs, the activities in the MEs also knew an increase compared to the same periodin 2017. However, MEs promoters in the great majority remain optimistic for the second semester of the year 2018.They forecast an increase in demand and consequently an increase in their selling prices.
