The certificate award ceremony to 15 consultants, 05 Inspectors and 04 trainers of the 5S/KAIZEN project took place on the 2nd of August 2019 at the Emergence building in Yaoundé. The training that lasted for 4 weeks from the 08th of July 2019 consisted of a week of theoretical training, a week of collective and practical trainings in an enterprise, a week of individual practice in an enterprise and the last week that marked the end of the training. Worthy of note is the fact that this training falls within the 2nd phase of the KAIZEN project that was launched on the 27th of February 2019 and envisaged to train 15 consultants in 5 towns of Cameroon: Yaounde, Douala, Kribi, Bafoussam and the fifth town is still to be determined.

In his speech, the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts Mr. Achille BASSILEKIN III declared that this project is aimed at ameliorating the quality and productivity of SMEs thus signifies “Amelioration or change for the better”. Moreover, this has to do with a philosophy or a practice focused on continuous amelioration on the fabrication, engineering and enterprise management procedures.

While calling on Directors of enterprises and trained consultants of the 5S/KAIZEN Project to put into practice all the lessons learned during these 4 weeks with rigor as well as sensitise Cameroonians on the principles of the project, Minister Achille BASSILEKIN III further expressed his gratitude and congratulations to the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) experts for their fervent commitment, availability and rigor.

It should be noted that the 15 selected candidates (9 males and 6 females) in Yaounde, carried out a week of individual practice in 18 different structures amongst which are 14 SMEs in different fields, 1 international organization, 2 Public structures and 1 Para-Statal.  Worthy of note is the fact that the 1st phase of this program that took place in May 2017 upgraded the standards of 100 Cameroonian SMEs.
